Resources for Teaching, Speaking, and Studying

When we teach, we're taught to use only official church sources. This ensures no rules are inadvertantly broken and that everything we use has God's approval stamped on it. When we teach, we generally follow the same rule. In our personal studies, of course, we might reach further afield, studying gifted teachers and leaders who write on their own, and then compare what they say to what the official sources tell us to be sure we're on the right track.

Following are some of my favorite sources for studying the gospel.

Official sites:

Prepare a lesson: This section of LDS.org has links to a variety of official resources to help you prepare to teach.

Prepare a Talk: Also on LDS.org. Includes links to articles on writing talks, as well as links to resources to use in your research.

BYUBroadcasting: Find a talk from a devotional or other source.

Unofficial Sources

FAIR: An apologetics site. This does not mean they apologize for the gospel. It means they evaluate and respond to attacks on the church and explain controversial topics. This site is appropriate for personal study, rather than talks or lessons (unless someone asks a question in class.)

Mormonwiki: an unofficial wiki explaining a variety of church topics. Very helpful for getting the essential in formation. This site is a product of More Good Foundation.
